Severance | The Weight we Carry, 2026

Severance is about looking into the turmoil of your own life and seeing the people who are caught in the storm with you. Some connections carry you through the hurricane. They hold onto you when you can no longer keep yourself above the water. Others pull you under, willing to stand on your body just to keep themselves afloat.
The difficult part is recognising the difference.
Sometimes, the people who hurt us are the very people we were taught should love us most. People bound to us by blood, by history, by love, or by the idea that certain connections are meant to last forever.
Walking away from those relationships is never simple. Cutting someone out of your life can feel brutal, even when you know it is necessary. There is grief in choosing yourself. There is guilt in letting go of people you once believed you could never live without.
Severance is about that moment of choosing to step out of the storm. Of recognising which connections have carried you and which have slowly pulled you towards drowning. And, finally, having the courage to let go.
