Sweet Lies | The Weight we Carry, 2026
Original art piece 59,4x42cm, oil pastels on paper
Part of the art series The Weight we Carry which dips deeper into the emotions and memories that accompany us for a long time
In Sweet Lies, the canvas becomes a reflection of the delicate balance between protection and deception. As part of the series The Weight We Carry, it explores the stories we tell, both to others and to ourselves, in order to belong, to survive, and to preserve the identities we have carefully constructed. The masks we wear can shield our insecurities, soften our flaws, and help us navigate a world that often rewards appearances over authenticity. Yet every lie carries another weight. Beyond self-preservation lies the quieter, darker power of withholding truth, shaping perception, maintaining control, and preserving the status quo. The work invites the viewer to reflect on the cost of the façades we maintain, asking whether the identities we perform for acceptance allow us to truly belong, or quietly distance us from ourselves.
